Beauty Tips: Best Frizzy Hair Remedies

If conquering frizz is on your summer wish list, you need to understand what causes it. Using expert tips and products will have you looking polished in no time.

When it's humid, moisture from the air penetrates the hair shaft, causing strands to swell and look frizzy. When hair is too dry or damaged, it develops a negative charge that causes strands to repel each other, making flyaway hairs more visible.

First of all, don’t wash your hair daily so that you allow your scalp’s oils to naturally hydrate and smooth your hair. However, if you are prone to frizz, you should apply hair conditioning regularly from the middle of your hair to the ends, where moisture is most needed. Comb your hair dry with wet fingers. If you must blow dry it, wait until your hair is halfway air-dried, then keep the dryer on low.

Hairstyling products created to battle frizz do so by protecting hair from humidity, dehydration from the sun's rays and styling heating tools damage. If you have medium to thick hair, use a cream. Serums are better for fine or thin hair. Here are the best anti-frizz products to try.

Behind the scenes at the TV BAFTAs: Celeb beauty secrets

Picture yourself behind the scenes at the BAFTAs, star struck in a sea of sequins with the Made in Chelsea set getting coiffed to your left and about-to-be double award winner Olivia Coleman having her makeup masterfully applied to your right.

As a guest of celebrity hairdresser and official hair partner to the Arqiva BAFTA TV Awards, Mark Hill, we too got the star treatment like the TV elite and can conclude - it’s as glamorous as it seems.

In the special styling suite the Mark Hill, M.A.C and St Tropez teams were on hand to make sure all hair, makeup and skin was picture perfect prior to red carpet arrival times.

One of our fave hairstyles from the big night was red carpet darling Millie Mackintosh. The minimal half up-do worked perfectly against her sleek Sass & Bide dress and Mark (pictured) let us in on his styling secrets:

“Millie wanted to keep her look stylish and elegantly minimal as opposed to the dishevelled softer up-do styles on the red carpet this year. I achieved this chic and understated style with a great blow-dry using Big Blow Thicker Fuller Volume Spray to create volume on top. I then used the iconic Super Styler straighteners which are infused with pure Moroccan Argan Oil to give enhanced shine.”

VOTE ON MILLIE’S SEXY DRESS ON THE RED CARPET

Her partner for the night, Binky Felstead, also had her tresses tended to by the hair hero. “With Binky, we opted for the uber texturising dishevelled look, she wanted soft movement in her locks so we tonged with the Curl and Shine Ceramic Waver before running through with fingers and a touch of Flirty Fix Texturising Polish to keep the frizz at bay” Mark told us.

The tans were suitably bespoke too and the St. Tropez team told us how Millie’s soft ‘golden goddess’ glow was carefully considered.

“One coat of St. Tropez Self Tan Classic Bronzing Mist was applied all-over the day before the awards. On the day a mix of St. Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Moisturiser, with a pump of St. Tropez Instant Wash Off Glow Mousse, was applied to her legs to lift colour and add hydration. To finish the look and to draw attention to Millie’s great legs a little St.Tropez Gold Illuminator, was applied down the front of the shin and thighs to add a little sheen. Finally a little illuminator was added to her shoulders and decollete.” St. Tropez’s Skin Finishing Expert, Jules Heptonstall explained. And there we were thinking it was as easy as a spray-and-show!

Sienna Miller’s subtle sheen was slightly simpler. Jules said: “A layer of St.Tropez Self Tan Sensitive Bronzing Spray, was applied the day before and left on for just six hours to deliver a natural and subtle glow.”

SEE SIENNA’S HAIRSTYLE AT THE TV BAFTAS

Over at the M.A.C station, a makeup artist told us the secret to long lasting lips is to use lip liner all over instead of lipstick and avoid a balm or gloss on top as emollient can break down the colour. With the red carpet, pre-awards drinks and the three hour ceremony before the dinner and party, makeup staying power is the Holy Grail. We tried-and-tested the tip and it works – another one to work into the real world. But for now we’ll stay in our screen star episode, thank you BAFTAs...

Behind the facade of organic beauty products

Natural beauty products: the reality behind the Facade

Are reading labels 'Greens', 'bio' or 'natural' beauty products authentic or just a marketing ploy to fool the number increasing of their environment-conscious consumers? Leslie S. Baumann, MD, Director of cosmetic dermatology, Miller School of Medicine, University of Miami, agreed that the train of 'natural\' or 'organic\' has led many manufacturers to label their products as "green." However, there's little evidence behind the claims of marketing for natural beauty products.

Grenades, neem and green tea have many benefits as food products. Nowadays, manufacturers of cosmetics and skin care companies all these ingredients in their beauty products. Most people tend to believe these requests taking into account their health benefits; However, they fail to realize that the green tea or neem can be great as food products. The same application on the skin is quite another matter!

Member of the Faculty Richard Baxter, MD, University of Washington School of Medicine, said, "marketing is always ahead of the science for the most part, but he remains enough published to convince me that the antioxidant plants will be the next big thing in skin care."

For those who are planning on the use of organic beauty products, Baumann recommends research and corresponding to their specific concerns of the skin with ingredients. For example, olive, walnut and safflower oils prove effective against dry skin problems, and soy acts as an antipigmentation element. However, most manufacturers use small extracts from these natural elements to manufacture skin care products; Therefore, they have virtually no positive impact on the skin.

Thomas Bombeli, MD, Member of the International Society of Dermatology, said, "a drop of extract in a product of two ounces is probably not enough." Unfortunately, products containing only these ?amounts\ trace"of active principles for commercial purposes remain most of them on the market. "In addition, cosmetics of the so-called"natural\"are not regulated by Government. Baumann says that certain organic beauty products can even worsen the skin conditions. She said, '... Rosemary, bergamot and peppermint... CAN ignite sensitive skin... coconut oil can cause acne. ?

Bath beauty

Bath beauty

Never been to work, trying to be productive, and yet, your mind wonders to your happy place??That never happens to me, but I was wondering if it happens to one of you.?A joke!?When the stress of the work are chaotic and fast, I have an overwhelming desire to drop everything and watch online travel sites to find the next ticket somewhere sunny by water.?On the ocean.?Perfect. Whenever I think of the most relaxing environment I switch immediately to the image and the feeling of water.

Since it is not so easy to just quit the job, hop on a plane and arrive at a hut on the beach, I need to find other options that are more... Well... realistic.?What a soothing bath??Although we often think of a hot bath as a luxury taken by cold, winter, a bath is a great way to find relaxation and stress-release.

Ways to "soak all in" for the best party of your bath could include:

Lobriefly lighting: organic Beeswax candles simply.?An excellent choice for the bath would be Lavender.?Lavender possesses qualities that help you relax.?Did you know that Lavender comes from the Latin name lavare, which means "to wash".Chemical free SOAP: time for amazing scented soaps.?If you want to stick with a theme of lavender, simply organic Lavender oatmeal SOAP is my choice.??A closed door.?Sorry, family... it's 'me' time now.?Do not disturb.Hot water: remember, it's a soothing bath... scolding hot water is not very relaxing, in my opinion.?This book that you have not resumed since last week.?It is time. Background music: even if you're a devotee of classic rock listener, during this moment of relaxation you can find classical music channel.?Just a suggestion.Distance.?Time to get away from your blackberry, iPhone and other technological devices.?How is to check your email for relaxation?

The great idea of a bath must take time for you.?It's a bit like a form of meditation.?A time to just find some peace.?And I hope that some quiet too.?Not enough often spend us another 20 minutes of time for us to our well-being.?If you think about it, we at least deserve that to keep our concentrate, fresh and fabulous.?Time to show us the love that show us others.

Celebrating the black beauty and advocating diversity

Sunday, Procter Gamble & will present a screening of "Imagining the future" in collaboration with the Tribeca Festival. The film, which aims to empower African-American women, features Janet Goldsboro, a teenage girl from Dover.

"I didn't look like what I saw in a magazine,", said Ms. Goldsboro on his childhood in the documentary. I am different from all my cousins. I had dark features, black hair, black eyes, big nose and thick lips, and I used to get made fun of because of how I watched it. ?

She says she is "in boys"- and that their comments can sting. ".

"" "" "Boys say,"I like light-skinned girls", or"I like white girls because I want my unborn baby quite"," says Ms. Goldsboro. And that makes you wrong because it makes feel you as if you were ugly looking. ?

The documentary is co-directed by Shola Lynch, whose documentary "Free Angela and all political prisoners" about Angela Davis is now in theaters, and Lisa Cortes, who also produced the documentary and who has been the Executive producer of the Oscar-winning film "Precious."

The filmmakers find their subject through Black Girls Rock!, a Brooklyn non-profit with programs, including a leadership camp in which Ms. Goldsboro participated last year. Procter Gamble & supports the Organization financially by My Black Is Beautiful.

Interspersed with footage of the teenager, who is visiting South Africa, are interviews with women, including Michaela Angela Davis, writer and cultural critic; Gabby Douglas, Olympic gymnast and Melissa Harris-Perry, the MSNBC host.

Ms. Lynch, the Director, was dubious when Ms. Cortes first approached on the documentary.

?Lisa came to me and I was like, lit, Procter Gamble & will allow us to tell this story, how we want to say to him? '' Ms. Lynch said.

"We knew that this wasn't going to be a piece of dough," said Ms. Cortes the 30 minute documentary that explores how the media images of rail-thin white women as a standard of beauty can make black women, those particularly well rolled, feel inadequate. "P. & g. not to be an employee of support," Ms. Cortes said, "but really gave us creative freedom."

In the documentary, Ms. Goldsboro visits a market in Johannesburg with Lebogang Mashile, poet, actress, activist and said: 'I heard that in South Africa that skin bleaching is a big problem here?'

Ms. Mashile responds: "it is a problem for a long time. He has hatred, does not have enough mirrors who claim you. ?

The documentary does not mention that Olay, a trademark of Procter Gamble & markets products lighten the skin anywhere in the world. A line called White Radiance is sold in the country, including Malaysia and Singapore; another, white natural, is sold in India, United Arab Emirates and elsewhere.

In South Africa, Olay has recently launched a range called peer & smooth skin lightening. A new commercial features Gail Nayak, a singer and actress, who apply the product and is instantly bathed in light, giving the effect of his skin becomes more light several shades.

Efforts as My Black Is Beautiful represent "a new trend among cosmetics companies to use language that criticizes the domination of white beauty standards in order to sell new products to women of color," wrote Margaret Hunter, an associate professor of sociology at Mills College in Oakland, California, in an article published in The Journal of Pan African Studies in 2011.

The new documentary is "thinking very endearing and very provocative on racism," Professor Hunter said in an interview after the consultation. "But it is Procter Gamble &, meaning that some money behind the documentary is made excluding paste lighten the skin, which completely undermines and reversal of this message.

When asked about its lines of skin lightening, the company issued a response.

"These types of products are very popular in Asia and are designed to help tone uneven women address and boredom which can be caused by acne, skin discoloration problems or overexposure to the environment and help restore the original tone of the skin," the read statement.

In a 2009 report on marketing for black women, market research firm Mintel noted that during the 1950s, whitening creams, have been marketed in the United States with 'after' photographs featuring lighter skinned women, but such an approach has become taboo in the 1960s, when "cosmetic companies started to focus on the properties of task-fading of whitening creams and minimize strategy ?better pale skin?

Procter Gamble & in his statement, stressed that it does not market the brightness white and white natural in the United States, but these products are available through several providers that import products on Amazon.com.

"Imagine a future, which is not officially part of Tribeca Film Festival, but rather the object of a coinciding with it, will appear on Black Entertainment Television on July 5 and will be posted on YouTube.

Imagine that the future is also the name of an initiative presented in 2012 which promises to have a positive impact on black girls 1 million by 2015. The effort is a partnership of My Black Is Beautiful, started by Procter Gamble & in 2006, the United Negro College Fund and Black Girls Rock!

"There is a need to celebrate Black beauty and support diversity, and all of our brands view the consumer African-American as a very important consumer, said Lauren Hoenig, Associate Director for multicultural marketing at Procter Gamble & marketing. '" " We know we have to win with the African-Americans in order to win. ?

This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:

Correction: April 20, 2013

The column advertising Friday, about "imagining the future", a documentary supported by Procter and Gamble and which aims to empower black women, falsely year-round campaign My Black Is Beautiful P. & G. has. It was 2006, not 2008. And the column, using incorrect information from a press release, has concealed the date of regular screening for "Imagining the future" on BET. On 5 July, pas is July 7.
